Strategic day-to-day advice
Our team of experienced employment lawyers provide strategic advice on the full range of HR and employee relations issues. We advise regularly on hybrid and flexible working requests, managing maternity and other forms of family leave, complex holiday pay questions, employment status issues and drafting contracts for a myriad of working models (including arrangements for zero-hours employees, agency workers, secondees and those providing services under consultancy agreements).
We recognise that many of our clients will have sophisticated HR functions and/or experienced in-house legal teams. They may not always need us for day-to-day operational support, but they trust us to help them navigate tricky situations that involve complex legal and commercial questions.
Our team specialises in supporting employers with tricky employment law issues, including:
- Navigating data protection issues in the workplace – including drafting privacy notices, conducting legitimate interest impact assessments and responding to data subject access requests
- Defending claims of employment status brought by consultants and independent contractors
- Managing long-term sickness absence (including employees eligible for permanent health insurance or group income protection benefits)
- Making reasonable adjustments for employees with disabilities
- Drafting complex bonus and commission structures
- Calculating annual leave entitlement and holiday pay for employees with atypical working patterns or variable pay (including commission and overtime)
- Advising on gender pay gap and Modern Slavery Act reporting requirements for larger employers
